Membership at Dojo

A creative community for musicians who want to grow, collaborate, and develop their sound with intention.

Membership at DOJO gives musicians access to a structured environment built for growth. Members can reserve spaces, schedule Flows, rehearse with their band, record projects, and develop music alongside a supportive community of working artists. With ten active members and counting, DOJO is designed for musicians who want a place to create with intention.

Band Performing

Flows

Flows are intentional, groove-driven sessions built around a specific tempo, rhythm, and chord structure. They give musicians a focused space to explore new ideas, feel out chemistry with new players, and set expectations before a project rehearsal. Any member can propose a Flow, and scheduling them in advance helps everyone come prepared. If the groove doesn’t lock in after 10–20 minutes, it’s a sign to shift to the next idea — even the Flows that don’t land still teach the group something and move the music forward.

Collaborations

Collaborations happen when a member brings together a local rhythm section and a visiting artist to create a unique musical experience. The goal is to craft a bespoke backing band that supports the visiting artist’s vision while adding the distinctive sound, feel, and interpretation of our DOJO musicians.

DOJO supports these collaborations by investing in the resources the rhythm section needs to learn and develop their own take on the visiting artist’s catalog. We also provide housing for the artist during their stay and a small venue space where the collaboration can be showcased. These events highlight the creativity, chemistry, and musicianship that define the DOJO community.

Outdoor Music Performance

Projects

Projects represent the culmination of a band or rhythm section’s work: a curated collection of songs that has been shaped, refined, and rehearsed over time. Once a set has reached performance quality, it can be recorded, performed live, and distributed digitally.

All projects are archived at DOJO for several key purposes:
• To share with booking agents when securing gigs
• To share with visiting artists exploring future collaborations
• To build a reliable bench of musicians who can step into a performance if a member of the original rhythm section becomes unavailable

This archive becomes a growing library of the community’s work and a foundation for new opportunities.
