The Rumble, formed in 2021 and are multi-Grammy-nominated artists, bringing the vibrant spirit of New Orleans to every performance. Fronted by Big Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr., the group blends Mardi Gras Indian funk, brass band traditions, jazz, and hip-hop into a sound that honors the city’s musical roots while pushing them forward. The Rumble made history as the first traveling band to perform on DOJO’s West Patio, setting the tone for many unforgettable shows to come.
Known as the “Queen of Blues Guitar,” Joanna Connor is a powerhouse musician whose fiery slide guitar and soulful voice have made her a defining force in modern blues. After moving to Chicago in 1984, she quickly earned her place alongside legends like Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, and Koko Taylor, later releasing her acclaimed debut Believe It and touring the world. With chart-topping albums like 4801 South Indiana and her latest work with The Wrecking Crew 23’, Joanna continues to captivate audiences with her unmatched energy and deep connection to the roots of American music. DOJO was honored to welcome her as a visiting artist, bringing her unmistakable sound and spirit to our stage.
Johnny Rawls
Johnny Rawls is a soul-blues standout whose smooth, deeply rooted Southern sound has made him one of the genre’s most respected voices. A Mississippi native, Rawls built his name through decades in the blues world, including serving as music director for O.V. Wright, and has gone on to earn major recognition for albums like I’m Still Around, which won Soul Blues Album of the Year at the Blues Music Awards. His music carries the warmth, grit, and timeless feel of classic soul-blues while still sounding fresh on every stage he steps onto. DOJO was honored to welcome Johnny as a visiting artist, where he played alongside Jack Hadley and brought that unmistakable soul-blues presence into the room. His performance captured exactly what makes live music at DOJO special: real connection, deep musicianship, and a sound that stays with you long after the night ends.
